Well, the word is out. I’ve got people all over the place checking out the business plan. So Practical Insanity will become a reality for the world soon. In the meantime I really have to thank Sennheiser for highlighting me in their last Press Release!
Also, as you look at the concert calendar, you’ll notice that August 7th will be the first show since the recording of Practical Insanity has finished. I figure it’s a great way to get a bunch of friends down for not only my upcoming Birthday, but for my friend Colin who has invited me and the band back for the second annual Colin Thompson Bash. Everyone can now stop asking when the next show in Los Angeles is: It’s August 7th.
Since I’m antsy to get playing, I’ll start booking some low key shows until we have a solid booking agent lined up for the full-on national tour to commence later this year in support of Practical Insanity.
The cover photo shoot will happen in the next two weeks. I’ve assembled a crew of people and we’re headed to Ed Ouellette’s Studio in Valencia CA. He’s the genius behind the camera from the cover shoot of “is this considered naked”. Also in the wind… There is the possibility of another video shoot happening really soon. Song and date have yet to be picked but there is interest from management to put another one in the can before the release of the CD and DVD.
Come Back Soon!
Looks like the cover shoot will happen on Sunday. All the fun will be then, but until that happens, feed on this:
I’m mentioned in the latest Sennheiser Press Release along with Sugarcult!! Read on and check it out. I’m very flattered.

The cover art concepts have been approved, the photo shoot gear has been arranged and now we’re attempting how to figure out pulling it off to be believable. Stay tuned on that. But I dare say it’s a funny but effective cover design.
The next step is to figure out how to go on the audio side. I’m thinking it will be SACD and a DVD. That way I can still get the surround sound mixes to you but keep the video content on the DVD at a higher quality. SACD is a pretty neat format. Allows you to play the standard audio in a CD player, but if you have an SACD player you can hear the surround sound mixes.
In another website advance, the quotes have been tweaked, now much easier for me to add them into rotation when I get them, and also now formatted so that their easier to read and easier for you to tell who said them. Ah the wonders of modern technology. Also making it’s debut is the new and improved e-mail signup form. To get all the latest J-Dubya news delivered to your door all ya do is add your e-mail address into the form above.
In the mean time… Go Karl Malone, help the Lakers get you that championship ring you so deserve!
Little changes are creeping up on the site. if you’ve been repeated browsing in over the past week you’ve probably noticed minor revisions going on with the site. The format is evolving into something a little less ordinary and hopefully more fun.
The website will undergo a major facelift on the release date of Practical Insanity. I won’t be giving sneak peeks it will just happen: BANG! new look to the site. All to make it tie in better with the new release. So while the content is being tweaked right now you can keep browsing in, checking out songs, and seeing little things changing. Don’t be shocked when the new look happens. It will be cool.
In that vein, I should be seeing the concept of the cover art to Practical Insanity later tonight. I’m excited. It’s all coming together now.
Keep tuning in.
iTunes, iTunes, iTunes…
3 more albums have finally made their debut on iTunes. E.nergy A.udio R.evolution, Is This Considered Naked, and Initial Spank. So if you don’t care for the whole albums you can now buy individual songs and be done with it!
Practical Insanity has been mastered, the elements of the DVD are being gathered and spruced up. The business plan is done, and the artwork is on it’s way. Pretty soon, you’ll be the first to know about the whole thing and when it’s going to be released etc…
The surround sound mixes sound stunning. They will be the last things to be mastered. You will not be disappointed.
it’s one of those crazy snafu’s. You’re the first artist somewhere and the data gets all goofed up. I’ve been limited in my iTunes exposure and have just been reassured that the albums are there, but for some reason the search function and link maker aren’t seeing them. However, I’ve just seen them in iTunes using special links and bought the CD’s even though they show zero songs. I’ve already sent a trouble ticket to Apple. So hopefully the issue will be resolved shortly and I’ll be able to add the links to all the songs on the music page.
D’oh it’s freshly the 1st of May and just a few moments ago I had registered the domain the for the name of the new CD. So here’s the inside scoop before it gets announced to my e-mail list. Drum roll couple with drum loops please……………… The title of the new release will be: Practical Insanity
It fits the mindset I’ve been in for the past couple of months with all the recording, mixing, and preparation that I’ve been doing. Not to mention it fits the content of the lyrics pretty well too.
I got the Video for All The Things back today in the mail. It looks absolutely fantastic! I’m very excited about it. Just think it will be on the DVD along with tons of other goodies. Including behind the scenes of the making of it. There is also footage for the making of the whole CD.
Join the e-mail list to get even more news, the j-dub army corps. gets privy info that you won’t get here.
Been a cool couple of weeks, needed to sit on the mixes for a bit to make sure they sounded exactly the way I wanted. The songs have been shipped off to the mastering house. Should have them back next week. 🙂
In the meantime I’ve been writing the business plan for going after investors. Whew what a pain in the ass. But I’m learning alot more about the business side of music. Yikes.
I’ve also been told that I’ll be featured on a new website from Sennheiser. It will launch on May 5th I think. I’ll post a link here when it’s live.
I’m also writing some songs for another new artist. Think Evanescence meets dance metal with a male singer. Weird.
Phew…
Finally finished the mixes for the new CD as of 4p.m. today. Now the files go off to the Mastering House to get gussied up for the actual pressing. I’m midway through mixing the Surround Sound versions that will go on the DVD. I have about 6 more songs to go. Should be finished with them well… tomorrow.
The video shoot went very well on Sunday. Though I did get an super sunburn for being out in the sun all day long. I had a great time and according to the director, Byron Turk, whom I spoke with today – the footage is very good. We also had an extra camera running while we were shooting, so there will be a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video. Plus we shot an interview with questions supplied by you, the fan.
My manager and I are getting packages out to Agents and publicists that are interested in working with the first CD Baby artist signed up for iTunes Music Store and the other digital distribution sites. It’s all very exciting. So in the mean time, I’m getting the artwork ready, and writing a business plan. Thus if you know of a Venture Capitalist or two, please point them in my direction or point me in their direction. I have a great concept for the whole plan.
I will be adding the “A Natural Leap Forward” CD/DVD to the music page in the next few days. It should be going off to the digital sites within a few weeks.
Have a great day.
A minor web update for ya…
Currently finishing up the mixes for the new CD/DVD. Doing the Surround Sound mixes. Oh my, I LOVE Surround Sound!!! I’m making extra sure these sound stunning. Shooting a video for the song All The Things on April 4th.
Things are moving ahead as planned.
A little bird has told me that Apple will be posting the rest of my CD’s to iTunes in the near future. The never been released “A Natural Leap Forward” will make it’s way onto iTunes in the near future as well.
BTW – there is a seller on ebay selling a copy of E.A.R. Apparently in mint condition. Go get it for a super cheap price from him, if you’re interested.
Stay tuned.
