This Wednesday I’ll be lighting up the airwaves and netwaves with American Musician’s Radio. I’ll be in studio for two hours with Johnny Cat in his Cat’s Den shootin’ the shit about music.
A new thing that Johnny Cat has going on, is the ability for listeners to now call in and ask questions. I’m letting you know that it would be awesome to have you chiming in to ask your burning questions.
Additionally I’ll be performing a couple of songs live and acoustic. One of which is a brand new tune that will be on the next CD. You. Don’t. Want. To. Miss. That!
Here’s a question that I’ve been getting recently: What songs are left? Meaning, what of the 72 songs that I started with for the next CD are now being considered for the next release. No need to ask any more. Why? Because the list is here [in alphabetical order]…
American Mayhem
Careful
Femke
Imagine Life
In Disguise
It Burns
Jupiter Bowl
Love Takes A Holiday
New Here
Stand My Ground
Stand Up
Things Left Unsaid
Thump Thump Thump
‘Till We Meet Again
Touch
Vaporize Your Heart
Waiting On One Thing
You Can’t Hear
Of those 18, there are a few more that I’ll axe from the list to get it down to the final group. I’m spending time pouring over each song. Debating on the arrangement. Making necessary lyric changes. Ending with any transitions between parts that need to be made. After all that, it will be time to assemble the proper crew to help out with the recording process.
I’d love to get your help with offsetting the costs of the recording process. Please share the love of this page and help it go viral (click here).
Stay Tuned!

Here’s my thanks to everyone that took the time to vote on the songs. It started with 70. Then came to 32. Now it’s down to 18. From here on out, I’ll be tweaking and massaging the songs that are left. Of the 18 left, at least 6 will fall by the wayside. They might become b-sides to singles. What will be left are 12 super potent songs that will be sheer awesomeness.
I’m excited to have brought fans in on the process of picking out the songs. The beauty is allowing all to see the process we songwriters go through to create words and sounds you get upon final release. A process that can take a ridiculous amount of time and effort.
I appreciate the time and effort that was put into the listening and voting as well. I know it takes a good chunk of time to listen to 70 songs and give an opinion on them. Then to do it again on 32 songs.
My next step as it goes is to take time going back over songs with a fine tooth comb and make some adjustments. Figure out if the key of each song is the best it can be. If there is a need for anything else in the arrangements and how they need to transpire. Once this is figured out it will be time to head into the studio and begin the recording process.
Stay tuned.

I’m happy to be back at the helm for yet another release by Calysto Bourne. He’s a great meditation and mantra chanting artist who is creating some really awesome tracks. Especially for those who need some serious relaxation time. He’s asked me to continue in my capacity as producer for the latest project that is now available on iTunes, Amazon and other digital services.
This is another one hour chant designed to draw you in, and bring you to a deep state of relaxation. If I’m not mistaken and Calysto doesn’t get bummed about it, I believe there are 4 more one hour chants coming in the future – to complete the series.
Go get “Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum (Deep Meditation)” and get your soul in peaceful shape.
Enjoy!

I wanted to out a dirty little secret… Morning Rays music in a commercial that is running right now. It’s always a treat to create something and forget about it once it’s done. Which is essentially what I do with stuff I write for other people. Yes, I do create music beyond my CDs as much as I want to keep it a secret – it gets out.
Right now there’s a University called Capella University. They’re using a song I wrote called Morning Rays that is being distributed by APM. I happened to hanging out somewhere when all of a sudden I hear this melody that I co-wrote with Robert Navarro.
Here’s the video, as I had to go find it online since I’m a little vain in that respect…
Enjoy and let me know if you’ve caught this song in the commercial or have heard it somewhere else. I’ll feature you for informing me.
Thanks,
— Jody
There’s less than a week left in a cool little project of putting your ears to good use. I’ve been having you the Unity 42 fan to help pick the songs that will be presented on the next CD. It started with over 70 songs and has been an adventure getting them down to a studio manageable amount of 12. What I’m saying is song voting is coming to an end.
It will end on the 30th of June.
After which comes my process of going through the chosen songs to make tweaks to the arrangement, tempo, and any lyrical content that may need modifying. Once that’s done I should be heading into the studio with a band of friends to knock out the recordings. It’s exciting to have all this going on.
Thanks to everyone that has been participating. If you have participated yet – why not?

A little update for my side project known as Don’t Kick The Baby…
Turns out that now the rest of the variations of Go Get The Goal are now available on iTunes and many of your other favorite digital superstores. I’m not sure how soon it will be gracing the streams of Spotify, Deezer and the like, but I’m sure it will be soon if it’s not already.
Make sure you tell your Soccer loving friends Stateside that they can get their favorite team’s version for the MLS. For all my friends across both ponds, all of England and Australia football teams are covered at the moment for their main leagues. More leagues coming soon. As are versions for foreign language teams as well.
Viva La Football, Viva La Soccer. <– not sure that’s the right phrase but roll with it anyway.

For those of Unity 42 and beyond who are not aware, I am part of a side project. I had a musician friend come to me wanting to write a sports anthem and thus started a new project. I can say that don’t kick the baby is smart advice, but Don’t Kick The Baby is also the name of the band or rather the project.
What did we do? We wrote a soccer (football for our worldview friends) anthem. It’s called Go Get The Goal. Much like what I did for Do You Want To Play, we did numerous versions for different leagues. So far we’ve covered the US, England and Australia. Coming soon we’ll be doing versions for Latin teams, and then we’ll be going after many more languages and countries. Our goal is to cover the world with a soccer/football anthem.
As of right now 4 of the 7 albums we’ve done are on iTunes and Amazon. Later this week should see the other 3 being released. We’re excited. We’re so excited we have a Twitter handle and an official website as well. They’re still in their early stages. We’d love it if you’d follow us on twitter and tweet about us as well as finding us on Facebook, spread that gospel of soccer.
It’s said that Don’t Kick The Baby is smart advice, but the smarter advice is to get the song then go out and get the goal. You’ll be happy you did. We’ll be happy you did. I’ll be happy you did. It’s a super win situation.
In the past year I’ve been approached by other artists to start producing them. Obviously it’s rather flattering to have other musicians come to you and ask you for your abilities to help them with their career. One such artist is Calysto Bourne. Calysto creates deep relaxing music. The kind of stuff that is used for getting centered and relaxed.
I have now produced three CDs for this budding master of the relaxation and chant genre. The first was a combo that contained 7 different popular chants in 7 different keys. Pretty unique idea I thought. It’s on iTunes and Amazon.
Then came a slightly more ambitious project called Deep Om Tara… Which was a lengthy 1 hour track. The idea behind it was to create a way to escape the outside world, find some inner peace and calm and relax. I think I helped him achieve that goal. Like the first release, that is also available on iTunes and Amazon.
Our 3rd adventure into the studio has yielded yet another 1 hour deep meditation track. This time around it’s Deep Meditation Medicine Buddha mantra. Like the Om Tara it’s a 1 hour track that is designed to wisk you away to your inner peaceful self. There are key changes and tempo changes to facilitate getting into an even deeper state of relaxation. This release is now out and available on iTunes and Amazon and your other favorite digital stores.
Thus if you need some real time away from the world, I can strongly recommend all of Calysto’s releases. Of course I’m biased as I produced them, but hey, I wouldn’t be telling you to get it if I didn’t like it myself. Calysto really knows how to create some great deep relaxing music and I’m happy I had a hand in bringing it to the world.
Stay tuned… another announcement of a side project I’ve recently started is coming.
